Alyss wasn't involved in any drama for once, she was golden. Well, maybe not golden, but she was alright. She wasn't in one of her weird bad moods for no reason and she didn't feel like she was about to go into a crying spell. She was in a rare good mood. After last March, well, it was hard to find things to be truely happy about.
She was sitting on the stage, right in the middle, looking out at the empty seats. She always felt better when she was on a stage. It was like she was meant to be there, with a mic in her hands and maybe a guitar ready to be strummed. She pushed back her bangs so she could see clearly. Ever since last spring she'd grown her bangs out to hide behind. She could still see through them, but everything was blurry when she tried. She ran a hand over her bright blue jeans as if to smooth them out before she fiddled with the black tie that was around her neck. She smoothed out the white buttoned down shirt as well, her eyes unfocused as they watched a phantom crowd cry her name. If she couldn't get over last spring soon she'd never see that happening.
She sighed and put her head in her hand. Her short, black nails drummed against her chin in a rythm while she hummed it absent mindedly to herself.

Pushing open the door, Lexi quietly entered the dark Auditorium, wanting to get away from the noise of the chattering halls for now. Sometimes even the most popular girls need a break from the daily dose of high school gossip. Lexi already knew that whatever she was wearing today was better than anyone else's fashions, and it didn't matter which team had won what game, as she had never been interested in any sports. (Unless you counted shopping as a sport, of course.) REAL sports were only for jocks as far as she was concerned.
Lexi sat down in one of the cushioned seats farthest from the stage, so if anyone was backstage they hopefully wouldn't notice her presence in the room. She didn't want to be associated with anyone who was lower on the status scale than her, and she'd like to keep it that way for life. Even the foreigners could be a bit strange, even though they never tried to be. It was just their nature being in a new place, Lexi guessed. The only people besides preps Lexi ever hung out with were some of the hotter, good looking jocks. Most people here would beg on their knees for a chance to be around her, so she liked to ignore them.
Now twirling with her hair, because there wasn't much else to do, Lexi thought that she saw someone sitting on stage. Probably one of the techies, she thought, as she looked at her Blackberry. She had no new messages, which might be a good thing right now. Lexi needed some time to be alone. Killing her boyfriend, Kyle, had been haunting her for the past few days now. She had to shake the memories off somehow.

Why would someone bother coming in here? Well, besides her of corse, but she was made to be on this stage."Hello?,she called, standing up to glance over the empty seats. Wait, there, someone was sitting there. Who was it? She couldn't make it out very well, her bangs having flopped back into place once she had stood.
Oh Lord, it was Lexi Darley, on of the 'most popular girl in school.' Joy, just what her day needed, not. It wasn't that she didn't get along with the preps, they just got on her nerves with the stupid questions most seemed to ask and the total lack of caring that most seemed to display. Now, not all of them were that way but a good portion of them were.
Alyss sighed. Well, she might as well be civil to the girl, she had gone through hard times too, after all that's why she was at the school, wasn't it?"Oh,um, hi?"It came out as more of a question than a normal sentnce. Alyss flinched a little at her voice. Did she always sound that high amd squeaky when she spoke?

"Hello?" a voice coming from the figure on stage asked, presumably to the only other person in the room, Lexi.
Lexi was quite startled when the girl talked, barely noticing her phone clatter abruptly to the ground. She didn't expect the girl to notice she was there.
"Hey," she responded quickly, trying to be nice to the girl, "I didn't see you there, I thought I was alone..." Lexi began, trying to explain herself so she didn't look like an idiot. She then realized that thisw made her only look more like an idiot, not less of one at all.
Lexi turned her head to the direction of the voice. When looking closely, you could see that the girl's jet black bangs were hanging down in front of her face so that you couldn't see her eyes, and her skin looked pale...ghostlike, even. Lexi knew that the reason that this girl must be here is the death of herself. The girl had to have been a ghost, well it looked like it, anyway.
Nobody really knew the reason why Lexi was here at Barrington, no one had ever asked her. It was sort of a good thing, too, Lexi wouldn't get turned in for stabbing someone to death.
Clearing her mind of that thought, Lexi grabbed her phone that had fallen to the floor and asked, soon after regretting it, "Who are you? Of course, you know who I am, right?" she laughed.

Loud, sudden noises still had that effect on her, even if she couldn't remember when the gun was fired. She shoved the thought out of her mind.
Alyss nodded."Yeah, I thought I was alone too. No biggie."She waved one hand before she pushed her bangs out of her eyes, pushed the hair behind her ears so she could see. It was dim enough in the room without the added effect of her hair.
At Lexi's next question she rolled her eyes and mumbled something along the lines of "Unfortunatly.", before she answered the girl's full question."Oh,um, I'm Alyss, Alyss Wise. I havn't been here very long, only about two weeks or so.I doubt you know me." the small girl said with a small smile. Even if the girl seemed like she owned the world, didn't mean that Alss had the right to be rude to her...Yet.

The dark-haired girl introduced herself as Alyss Wise somewhat shyly. Alyss Wise, Alyss Wise, where had she heard that name before? Think, Lexi, think! she thought to herself, trying with all of her mind to remember where she had heard the girl's name before this very moment. Where had she heard the name? Alyss had said that she doubted if Lexi knew her, but, in fact, Lexi did know her from somewhere. The question was, where did she know Alyss, or at least her name, from?
A spark went off in her brain, and Lexi suddenly remembered where she had briefly heard Alyss' name. It was on the first day of school, when everyone was being assigned new roommates for the year. Was it...no, this Alyss girl couldn't be her roommate...was she? Alyss wasn't too tall, and she looked as if she was more than likely a freshman, and most all of the freshmen kids were assigned automatically with others in their grade.
"So you're Alyss Wise, huh? Have you gotten your roommate assignment yet?" Lexi asked her, not wanting to force the fact that they were possibly roommates into her face.
Lexi was trying to be nice, not to act too catty yet, if they were roommates, they'd have to learn to "get along" for the next few months of the school year. This could be quite fun, she mused, this could be quite fun!

She had gotten her rooming list, she just had just gotten it that morning."Yeah, I,uh, just got it.I haven't had a chance to look at it." She fished the piece of paper out of the pocket of her bright blue pants and glanced down at the paper.
Ah, there was her name. Alyss Wise, 7985 Vegas Skies Circle. But who was her room mate? Her stomach seemed to drop down to her feet. He room mate was Lexi Darley. Oh lord, she must've kicked a lot of pupies in her past lives.Or this was karma for the whole Jason thing, who knew?No...it was probably the Jason thing. Not many people got away with killing someone.
She smilied shyly at Lexi."Yeah, about that.Look like you're my new room mate. She swallowed once.Well, she had better make the best of this."Um, my friends back home called me Wonderland, and, i uh, guess you can call me that too?" She cringed slightly. She hadn't meant for that to come out as a question.

Oh God, Lexi thought to herself, When would this nightmare finally come to an END? Lexi's suspicions had proven correct. By some odd stroke of misfortune, Alyss was indeed her roommate for this school year. Luckily Lexi was a Senior and would be graduating from Barrington High at the end of this school year, and Alyss, thankfully, wasn't going to be.
So that meant just one torturous year of having some strange Gothic rocker chick as a roommate. Lexi knew that if she could get through repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend to death, then she could definitely get through anything.
"Yeah, I guess I'll just call you Wonderland then..." Lexi said, trailing off. "So...Wonderland...do you know where the house is, or do you want me to show you? I'll be more than happy to show you..." When Lexi said "I'll be more than happy", she was really meaning to say, "I'll show you where the deathtrap that most people would call a house is --- because I feel like being unusually and strangely nice to somebody for a change. You just wait until tonight, Wonderland, you just wait until tonight..." but instead the cheerful, more kind sentence came out.
Why in the name of Hell did I have to say THAT?! Lexi thought to herself, wishing that she could scream, and replace the kind-hearted sentence with the meaner option B. . Lexi could just stab herself repeatedly with a kitchen knife now and the pain and misery would be all over.

She blinked once. This wasn't going to be a very good year by the looks of things. If she had to share a room with Lexi it was going to be hell. She bet that if Jason could see her from hell, she was sure the child molesting bastard was in hell, he'd be laughing his ass of at her."See,"he'd say."This is what you get for sicking your slut of a mother on me.this is what you get for shooting me!" She steeled her back bone. If she was going to be rooming with this girl then she shouldn't be showing her rare, meek side to her. Where was the rude, crude, abrasive Alyss that had apperaed after so many years of living with Aleksandra Belladonna?
She resisted the urge to hide behind her bangs and forced a calm smile onto her face, her body relaxed, but her mind ready for anything the older girl could throw at her.'No,I'm alright.I'll be able to find my way there. i never get lost,I've got a built in GPS.She was on stage, that was how she kept her cool. Just act like she was performing on stage. That was how she stood up to people when her shy side kicked in.

Yeah, sure "built-in GPS"...I doubt that she'll ever find her way there, Lexi thought to herself. She could tell now that Wonderland was going to be one tough cookie indeed. The great, well not so very great, thing was that this just so happened to be a Friday, meaning that the weekend would follow. Two whole days full of war with Wonderland.
Lexi already knew that Wonderland would be tough to deal with, even though she didn't look like it at all. How would Lexi get her beauty sleep if Wonderland was probably blasting her rock music until midnight or later? Life for the next few months would be Hell.
"Okay then..." Lexi looked at her Blackberry for the time...2:50 pm. ,"I'm going to head over to the house now if you need me. Then after you've got your stuff situated we can go to Gaelor's or something for a bite to eat afterwards," she informed Alyss, before quickly adding, "Oh, and, before I forget, here's my cell phone number if your mental GPS starts to malfunction..." Lexi neatly scribbled down a number on a piece of notebook paper lying on the ground with a tattered and,by the look of it, partially chewed pencil.
Lexi had written(555)-765-4312 - Lexi's cell in her almost flawless handwriting, substituting the dot on the letter 'i' for a heart doodle.
She dropped the ripped paper scrap with her cell number on it, as well as the nasty pencil, onto the stage nearby where Alyss was before Lexi ran off into the busy hallway.
